Apply for a Liquor License

Businesses wishing to sell or serve alcohol in Stonington must obtain both a Maine State liquor license and local approval from the Select Board.

Steps

    Download the appropriate liquor license application from the Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations (BABLO) website.

    Complete the application and gather required documentation (background checks, lease or deed, floor plan).

  3. 3

    Submit your application to the Town Clerk's office for local review.

  4. 4

    The Select Board will review your application at a public meeting.

  5. 5

    Upon Select Board approval, submit your state application to BABLO with the town approval documentation.

  6. 6

    BABLO will conduct their review and issue the license if approved.

  • Floor plan of licensed premises
  • Proof of occupancy (lease or deed)

Good to know

The Select Board meets monthly. Submit your application at least two weeks before the next meeting to be included on the agenda.
